260616 – Professor Lars Edvinsson Awarded the Eriksson Prize 2026 by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences
Edvince AB congratulates Professor Lars Edvinsson, Founder, Board Member and Chief Scientific Officer of Edvince, on being awarded the Hilda and Alfred Eriksson Prize 2026 by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
Professor Edvinsson, of Lund University, receives the award in recognition of his pioneering research on calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), which has led to the development of novel treatments for migraine and significantly improved the lives of patients worldwide. The Hilda and Alfred Eriksson Prize is awarded for outstanding scientific achievements that contribute to the understanding, prevention and treatment of disease.
The award adds to a distinguished list of international recognitions received by Professor Edvinsson throughout his scientific career. In 2021, he was awarded The Brain Prize, widely regarded as the world’s most prestigious award in neuroscience, for his groundbreaking discoveries that established the role of CGRP in migraine and paved the way for a new class of migraine therapies.
In parallel with his pioneering research in migraine, Professor Edvinsson has conducted extensive research into cerebrovascular biology and the mechanisms regulating blood flow in the brain. These scientific discoveries have formed the foundation for the therapeutic programs currently being developed by Edvince.
Building on Professor Edvinsson’s research, Edvince is developing novel therapies aimed at preventing brain injury and improving outcomes in severe neurological conditions. The company’s most advanced program, EDV2209 for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), is currently being prepared for a Phase 2b clinical trial planned for 2027.
