Global cerebral ischemia

GI – serious indication with high willingness to pay due to acute cardiac arrest
Global cerebral ischemic stroke occurs in the event of sudden cardiac arrest, when the blood flow to the whole brain stops. Despite advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and intensive care, neurological complications are common among survivors, and mortality remains very high. Fewer than 10% of those affected reach hospital with cardiac activity and circulation. There are currently no approved drugs designed to protect the brain after resuscitation – making the medical need acute. Edvince is developing drug candidates with the potential to improve neurological outcomes in the event of global ischemic stroke. All are based on inhibition of the MEK/ERK1/2 signalling pathway, a key mechanism associated with damage due to oxygen deprivation. The aim is to administer the drug as soon as possible – preferably with the paramedic nurse administering the medicine intravenously at the time of resuscitation in order to achieve the maximum positive clinical efficacy, or alternatively in the hospital’s emergency department. 

Clinical status
Preclinical trials are complete and are indicating a clear impact on inhibition of the MEK/ERK1/2 signalling pathway.
